Flower lace doily

This is the largest design I  attempted so far. It took almost a month to complete. I started working on it on December first week when my hubby was starting off for another official tour , thinking I can complete it before he returns . But it took me ages to complete it and finally Christmas was approaching and I wanted to complete it before that as we were planning on a long trip to CA . So I did not want a break in this work . On the previous night of Christmas I managed to complete it  and was proud looking at it. It was huge and reflected my peak of patience.

Bud Doily

As I had gifted my snowflake doily I wanted to keep one for myself. So I selected another color and did one more in the same pattern. But as the color changed this had the blooming bud look  hence  I named it so. Its for me!

Wavy doily

This is another pattern which I saw in a book nd wanted to try it. It was pretty easy as the pattern went on same way in all the rounds with just some monor changes. So even without much concentration I could do it as after the center design it is a monotonous design. So I thought I would give it a different color border just to make it more impressive in the first glance. It has a slightly wavy edge which is the main attraction of the design.

Embroidery

After doing lot of crochets I thought of doing something different. There was one spot in our house which was left undecorated and I thought I would fill it up with my own work. So this embroidery started. It is infact the quick stitch kit we get in India . I had bought it long back thinking I would do it if I really feel like it.So when my hubby was off on another tour I started this and finished it by the time he returned, He liked it and framed it himself.

The Snowflake doily

This was done for another close friend of mine. She was a very dear friend who had been by my side when I was sick and when I needed company. so when she was leaving it was very tough for me. I wanted to gift her something really worth all the help she had done for me. She is a good cook , a good artist and a good home maker.I was confused what to get for her when finally the idea clicked in me to do something and gift. I was sure it would surprise her and  I was also confident that she would treat it precious and keep it with her. So I selected this design and finished it with a light shade that will go with almost all the furniture or fabrics. I gifted it to her on the previous day of her leaving and was happy that she genuinely liked it.
When I started it I did not know what to name but some of my friends who saw it asked whether I meant a snowflake as it was wintertime when I did this. So I got the idea and named it Snowflake.

The Twister doily

This is my all time favorite . It was the first large one I did following instructions. When I saw the pattern I got the intuition that it would come good . It took long hours to complete and I had to put my head into it for all the calculations and countings. It was a complicate design once started but there was no coming back , so I completed it. When each round looked good and better than the previous I got more interest and completed the pattern succesfully. My mom liked it very much so when we visited India last time I gifted it to her .

Tea coaster

This is a cute and sweet work I have done so far. In fact I was trying out some new stitches and thought a small pattern would do the trick. So I selected a small sized design from a crochet pattern book. It was fun doing it as I was learning some stitches and at the same time looking for perfection too.  I did not get the exact color combination in the pattern but tried with my own colors which I had in stock. But I liked the cute look when it was finished.

Lace Doily

This is a gift made for one of my friends. She always used to visit me and appreciate all my works. So I when she was leaving I wanted to gift her something special and sweet. I did not have much time for it neither did I get any good books for reference . I had just one night left to decide on the pattern and finish it .And to my disgust I found just one small ball of thread left too. Luckily it was her favorite color . So I just figured out a pattern in my mind and hoping and praying that it comes good I just started it and within few hours completed it before sleeping. It was christmas time and I had a tree decorated in my living room. I invited this friend for tea and seeing the christmas tree she even asked if there is any gift in store for her. I didnt answer it. We had tea did chit chat for sometime. Finally while she was leaving I told her that the wrapped gift beneath the tree was for her. She opened it and was overwhelmed as she looked at it. It was a memorable evening for both of us.

Flower doily

This is a simple pattern  which I did with slight modifications of the first one. I referred a book on basic crocheting and found a simple pattern for beginners. So I thought why not try it out and did it. Came good. It gave me the confidence that I can do more following instructions from books.

Fruit basket

This is a fruit basket. After completing the first two patterns I was kind of confident about doing some good pattern. I just referred internet for variety designs and came across this particular one which was simple but elegant. I did it and when completed felt really proud of m work. It did not seem that bad for a beginner , at least to me. Again I modified certain stitches to the ones I felt comfortable, so there was an alteration from its specific design but otherwise everything came in correctly including the count and the shape. I did not want to stain it keeping fruits so I kept flower vase instead.

Simple doily

This one is a simple pattern with just the basic stitches. After the first pattern the instructor in the library taught me really well how to follow the instructions and do different patterns. For that I first needed to practice all what she taught me. So reaching home I started working on it during my free time. I had the left over thread of my first experimental crochet and started with that.  To be frank, I did not have any pattern in mind while doing this doily , so you would not see a definite design but just a simple doily which you can use at any spot.

My first crochet

This is the first one I did , recollecting what my grandma had taught me when I was in school. I did not follow any book nor did I know the name of any stitches I was doing. Later when I knew about a class in our library in Crochet I attended it . The instructor was surprised that I did this pattern without knowing the different type stitches . After her class I could read and follow instructions and do different patterns. Till now I have tried different doilies which were always my favorite.

This one patter is always sentimentally close to me as its my first and also I recognized I could do something useful with this pattern. I still remember how it started. One weekend evening my hubby had to work in office and I did not know when he will be back.So I started this pattern as a waiting time pass and finished the center piece. Still there were no signs of him coming and it was late night, my thread also got over. Then I found a piece of crochet which we had bought and I started making a copy of its border pattern into the one I was doing. Finally by the time my hubby came it was late and I had this wonderful piece in my hands.
